If the average peasant’s lot on the farm was so great, then why would he voluntarily move to the city, to work in worse conditions? Most people wouldn’t of course, unless they were forced to. Is there any evidence that force was used?To argue that millions of peasants willingly left a relatively good life in the countryside for a worse life in the city is untenable.
